Vehicle inspection system back in operation, DPS says AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Department of Public Safety said Monday its system to inspect vehicles had been fixed after a hardware failure last week. DPS said there was "no longer an interruption to service at this time."A hardware failure that started on Aug. 23 led to an outage at the vehicle inspection system, DPS said. Department workers were able to replace the damaged hardware over the weekend and finalize testing overnight on Sunday in order to allow inspections to resume on Monday morning, according to DPS. RELATED: DPS reports vehicle inspection system outage The department said the outage would not allow stations in "safety-only" counties to conduct proper vehicle inspections. Station license renewal applications were also unavailable, according to DPS. The department said the issue did not impact emission inspections.

Austin Energy to hold public meetings on future energy goals Tuesday and Wednesday AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Energy asked for customers and the general public to weigh-in this week on the utility's future plans to balance energy production and clean energy.Austin Energy said it will hold both virtual and in-person meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Registration is available online.Austin Energy said everyone is invited to attend the in-person meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. That meeting is at Austin Energy Headquarters at 4815 Mueller Boulevard. Registration is available online. Residential Austin Energy customers can attend a virtual meeting on Zoom at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, according to AE. Those interested can register online.The city said it is holding the meetings as it updates the Austin Energy Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan to 2030 (2030 Plan).
